From Ames to the Bighorns

Geological pioneers
In addition to their preeminent professional contributions, the Smiths have also been loyal friends to Iowa State University. Their gifts have made a remarkable impact on faculty hiring, equipment upgrades, and enhancements to the geology field camp experience for Iowa State students. This spring, they will receive ISU's Distinguished Alumni Award.

Originally from southeastern Pennsylvania, E.A. Giorgi is a second-year MFA candidate in ISU’s program in Creative Writing and Environment. She wrote this poem last winter for a poetry workshop at ISU, inspired by the crows she saw flying to campus on winter nights as I came into class.
