Spanning the sciences, social sciences, and humanities, the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences constitutes the core of learning and discovery at Iowa State University. As the university’s most academically diverse college, we touch all students on campus and offer nearly 60 undergraduate majors. Many of our departments offer graduate degrees (MA, MS, MFA, and PhD). Several of our graduate programs rank in the top 30 among public institutions.
As a major research university, we prize scholarly productivity and research impact; as a large public institution, good teaching and the success of our students matter just as much. We are Iowa’s land-grant institution and take pride in serving the needs of the state by supporting economic development and enhancing the quality of life of all Iowans. On a national and international level, we help our students become global citizens and we share our research for the common good.
